CAE (Costo Anual Equivalente)
Chile's standardized annualized cost measure for consumer credit.
CAE is Chile's legally mandated measure of the total annualized cost of credit, enforced by SERNAC and the Comisión para el Mercado Financiero (CMF), bundling interest and mandatory fees into one comparable percentage.
For short fintech microloans, CAE is annualized from a much shorter effective rate, producing large percentage figures even for a modest peso cost — the same pattern seen with TAE, CAT, and TCEA elsewhere on this site.
