CIFIN
Colombia's second major private credit bureau, owned by TransUnion, operating alongside DataCrédito.
CIFIN (Central de Información Financiera) is one of Colombia's two large private credit-reporting bureaus, owned by TransUnion and performing essentially the same function as DataCrédito Experian: aggregating positive and negative repayment history — loans, credit cards, defaults, and settled debts — that banks, cooperatives, and fintechs consult before lending.
Because not every Colombian creditor reports to both bureaus, a consumer's CIFIN file can differ from their DataCrédito file. Under Colombia's Habeas Data financial law (Ley 1266 de 2008), consumers have the right to a free annual report from CIFIN as well, and checking both bureaus — not just one — is the more reliable way to understand what a fast-loan lender might see before applying.
