Mercado Pago, the payments arm of e-commerce group Mercado Libre, lets users hold and move pesos through a CVU-based virtual account opened in minutes with just a DNI, with no traditional bank relationship required.
Because disbursement to a CVU is near-instant, many Argentine fintech lenders pay approved loans directly into a borrower's Mercado Pago account, lowering the practical barrier to receiving credit for borrowers without a full bank account.
