RUT (Rol Único Tributario)

Chile's national tax and identity number, required by nearly every licensed Chilean lender.

RUT (Rol Único Tributario) is Chile's unique national identifier, issued to citizens at birth and to legal residents once their residency is formalized, functioning simultaneously as a tax ID and general identity number used across nearly every formal transaction in Chile, including opening a bank account or applying for credit.

Nearly every licensed Chilean fast-loan lender requires a valid RUT as a baseline identity requirement — a tourist or someone without formal residency status generally cannot access Chile's formal fintech lending market at all. For foreign residents, obtaining a RUT is typically the first practical gating step before any lender will consider an application.
