Nequi, owned by Bancolombia, is one of Colombia's most widely used digital wallets, opened with just a phone number and national ID (cédula) and requiring no traditional bank account or minimum balance.
Colombian fintech microlenders increasingly disburse loans directly to Nequi (alongside the competing Daviplata wallet) because settlement is near-instant, broadening access for Colombians who are "unbanked" by traditional standards but hold a wallet account.
